I-80 TIF District

The Princeton I-80 Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District is located directly south of the Interstate 80 exit 56 interchange. The District is also adjacent to Route 26/North Main Street.

TIF is a method for financing economic development and redevelopment in Illinois municipalities. The primary purpose of the TIF is to eliminate economic and physical decline by designating redevelopment districts.

The I-80 TIF District was initially created in 2007 to redevelop an old hotel site. Since its inception, the I-80 TIF District has included the following developments: AmericInn (hotel), Wise Guys (restaurant/banquet hall), and a Subway. The I-80 TIF will sunset in 2030.
